For nearly two years now, Sonopress has been manufacturing Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs (UHD) with a capacity of up to 100 gigabytes - and demand for the high-resolution storage media is on a constant rise. On Wednesday this week, another barrier was shattered in the production halls in Gütersloh, when the ten millionth latest-generation disc came off the production line as part of an order for the Hollywood studio Universal Pictures. The title of the anniversary disc: "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom."
"Over the past two years, the UHD has not only become a top seller for Sonopress, but also a very effective door opener in Hollywood," says Sonopress Managing Director Sven Deutschmann. "Almost all major Hollywood studios are now among our clients, from Warner Brothers and Lionsgate to Universal Pictures, as well as major German providers such as Universum Film, Concord Home Entertainment, Highlight Constantin and Deutsche Independents," he adds. Sonopress' UHD machine park has also grown significantly in the past two years. The company's capacity now extends to two UHD-100 machines and eight UHD-66 production lines.
Since the beginning of 2016, Sonopress has been one of the key technology providers for the Ultra HD Blu-ray format. The company has already won several awards for its achievements in developing the technology, including the prestigious DEG Award for "Best Digital Product or Service Innovation" and the TOP 100 Seal given out by compamedia for special innovative strength and above-average innovation achievements.
